Baptisms at San MiguelSamantha and Thomas, children of David and Judith Meconitas, were received into the Kingdom of God through the waters of Baptism on October 5 at St. Michael’s (San Miguel) Lutheran Church, Fort Myers. Pastor Jon Zehnder and I both participated in the ceremony during the early morning English worship service. Hispanic children and adults are Baptized and confirmed into membership at St. Michael’s. This is the same arrangement we have at Hope Lutheran in Bonita Springs. Albertson’s Community Partner Your use of the Albertson’s Community Partner’s card is paying off. Spiritual Retreat Forty people participated in our weekend Spiritual Retreat at the Woodlands Lutheran Ministries Camp in October. Donna and five of our youth worked with fourteen children, sharing Bible stories, games and surprises. I led the adults in a Biblical study about prayer, the sacraments, Law and Gospel, the Apostles Creed, Stewardship and an explanation of the history and the mission of the Lutheran Church. If anyone is interested, I will be happy to electronically send a copy of the PowerPoint presentation to anyone who asks for one. As a result of the retreat, so far two men have announced their intention to prepare themselves to become Lutheran pastors. Alvaro is from Mexico and Néstor from Venezuela. Future pastors and deacons are trained through our distance-learning program that is accredited with Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. MilestonesThis past month I was recognized by my fellow pastors of the Florida-Georgia District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod for twenty years of service as an ordained minister. I also celebrated my fiftieth birthday. How time flies when you are having fun! Give thanks to God for . . . Ø Twenty years of service in the ministry for Pastor Bob; Ø Those who have renewed their faith and commitment to Jesus as a result of our spiritual retreat.
Pray for . . . Ø Samantha and Thomas, our newest members of God’s Kingdom; Ø Alvaro and Néstor as they prepare to serve our Savior Jesus Christ as pastors.
